Today marks the end of Glow’s 2019 Intern Competition! It’s been fantastic having a new intern in each week to complete the project brief, which consisted of producing a look book for luxury hotel brand, Chewton Glen.
Chewton Glen is a five-star hotel and spa located on the edge of the New Forest on the South Coast. Earlier in the year, we visited Chewton Glen and were kindly given an extensive tour of the hotel and its facilities, which aided us in creating an in-depth brief for the interns. This year we had nearly 30 applicants, which we (with difficulty) had to whittle down to just 4 based on their portfolios and application entries, which outlined why they’d like to take part in the competition.
Our chosen applicants had varying levels of experience and knowledge of the Adobe programs (the predominant software used in industry). Three out of the four candidates were still in college or had recently completed their course and one applicant had not long graduated from university, so we had a real assortment of contenders.
Each intern had 5 days to deliver the project, completing their week by presenting their design to the Glow team. We always love seeing how different creative people interpret the provided brief and incorporate their individual styling into the design. All of the applicants look books were very different and used a variety of techniques in order to achieve a unique aesthetic.
We are now in the midst of reviewing the four completed designs in conjunction with Chewton Glen, who will ultimately have the final say in who will be crowned Glow’s Intern of the Year 2019 and the lucky winner of afternoon tea or lunch at the iconic hotel.

We hope the experience of working on a live brief for a high-end client will be valuable to the interns and give them an insight into what it is like working in an agency environment.
